Some of you may have read my previous thread about Freaky the goldfish. To cut a long story short, Freaky was brought to me for hospitalisation from my friend's pond after being half-eaten by tadpoles (literally, you could see down to the vertebrae of the spine). Freaky is now healed, showing some slight signs of possible ammonia burn (red gill covers, probably from her early time in my friend's bucket) but otherwise doing very well, eating and swimming happily. She is between 3 and 4 inches long. My dilemma is:

I cannot sell/rehome Freaky because she does not belong to me and my friend expects her back at a later date

I cannot take Freaky back to her pond atm because it is still choc a bloc with nasty greedy-looking tadpoles

I am not so sure about taking Freaky back later as it is a smallish pond (?3'x2'?) and there are already 5 or 6 goldfish in there

But I have only got a 30 ltr tank (20"), which is clearly not adequate in the long run

Atm I am managing with water changes every few days. But how long?

Glad to see Freaky is doing well. Why hasn't your friend netted out all of the tadpole? It's not like it's a giant pond. You didn't say how deep it is but assuming it's 2' deep, it's around 90G. Certainly not large enough for 5-6 goldfish for very long. Is Freaky and the others round-bodied or long-bodied goldfish?
