How long is too long in an uncycled tank

I plan to completely rescape one of my tanks and i will need some time to rescape. If I was to put two dwarf puffers into a 10 gallon box of water how long would be okay before they would need to be moved back into the cycled tank. I will be doing 50% water changes daily.
