Hi everyone,

Unbeknowst to me, recently my dalmation molly has given birth to some or just one fry. I was wondering, do mollies have their fry all at once or do each of the births take time? I hope the others weren't eaten by the other fish. I was doing a water change earlier and this baby dalmation swam out from under the rock and totally surprised me. I'm not sure if it is a lyretail mix with a common or if my fish was pregnant when I bought her almost a week and a half ago (I don't know much about molly pregnancies, please forgive me:( ) I'm so excited yet scared at the same time. Will the molly fry be ok until i can go to the petstore tomorrow and buy proper supplies?

usually it will take about a month or 6 weeks.congrats on the lil babies, mollies will sometimes have thier babies at once or they will give birth little by little

Thank you:) I found 3 more babies, one more last night and two more today. I won't be able to go buy the petstore till tuesday bc of holidays:( but I made a makeshift breeding box for my molly. I took an old betta hex and made a bit pile of gravel and rocks under it then added gravel and a big periwinkle shell and a plant inside of it just in case more babies appear and added her to it. My male lyretail seems to wanna be in there with her cuz he is swimming around the glass looking and he won't leave. I think he's in love *hehe* but I know better than to add him if she's giving birth. It seems she is having them little by little. I've got an airstone and a bowl for them till tuesday, hopefully they'll be ok. Do you know about how long it will take them to grow? I've heard of babies growing week by week but I guess it depends on their diet maybe. Some people have told me they grow very slowly.

just put all of the babies in the betta hex, and yes, the babies grow really depending on what you feed them.

p.s. congrats on the babies!!!!!! :D :D

congrates on the fry. my platy took a week to have her first brood and then she had more one month after and one month after. i feed mine frozen baby brine shrimp to start and they grow fast and healty. good luck.
