I have no idea how old my oldest fish is - she came with my 1st tank and is a stunted kissing gourami, I've had her about 3 years she's not grown so is adult, when I got the tank the old man said he'd had them a while and her mate had died. Her pal, my other kisser is 3 years old.

I intend to keep most fish for life. I have sold a few out of necessity but generally they are here to stay.

I tend to keep any animal until it outlives its life. I hate the idea of pets being disposable.
My eldest fish is currently a 12years(ish) old goldfish. We had one that got nabbed by the Heron three years ago that was 15yrs when it went :( It was very healthy though, we have the offspring of the 12yr and 15yr old one ^^

My oldest is a betta that I think is about 9 months to a year old.

I will keep all my fish unless circumstances force me to do otherwise. Maybe in the future I'll start breeding or growing out with the intention of selling on, but not at the moment. All my fish are pets and much loved.

My oldest now are my clown loaches, 5 years. Longest I've ever kept a fish is 13 years, a pink kissing gourami. Died last year.

My oldest fish (currently) is about 18 years old. It is a common commet goldfish. I do have Bronze corydoras that is about 5/6 years old.

It depends. I've had fish that didn't work out, so I rehomed them. I've had fish die. I honestly sometimes get sick of a setup and rehome everything and start with something else. Other times I couldn't keep them because of a move, I couldn't set my tank up at all so they had to go.

Quite frankly I have yet to find a setup I like, everytime I get something down, something goes wrong.

My oldest is my bristlenose, had him since I started keeping tropical fish, so almost 7 yrs ago, though he was almost full grown when I got him. He's even been babysat by an awesome fish store owner when I couldn't have a tank.

I tend to keep breeding colonies of fish. That means that I must move some fish out or the tanks will become badly crowded. I do not become very attached to individual fish but enjoy keeping a colony for many years. The colony is usually in my tanks much longer than any individual fish's lifetime so I could say that I keep the fish for their whole life but I really don't know. Once in a while I find fish that have died of old age, but more often I refresh a colony by selling of most of the adult fish.
