How long did it take u to cycle a tank?

Ive never done it before

4 weeks for me.

10 days for 10 gallon

Takes me about a week because I use previous media (rocks, gravel) from other tanks. I also cycle the new tanks filter on a cycled tank

15g = <3 weeks
30g tropical = <2 weeks
30g coldwater = <2 weeks
56g = <1 week

I take 6 weeks for all the tanks, I want to be positive that they are all fully cycled.

would it help if I bought the $17 bottle of bacteria starter my lfs is trying to sell me?

4 weeks if done from scratch. Less than 1 week (pretty much instant) if older tank media is transferred.

I started from scratch 3.5 weeks in and Ammonia is zero and Nitrite is spiking I think, so hopefully 4 weeks is about right.
