How Hard Are Mollies, Platies And Swordtails To Breed

Most livebearers breed very readily, just add 1 male to 2/3 females & in no time you'll have lots of fry

Depending on water quality/food they can take anywhere from 3-6 months to reach adult size.

ok i've got 2 marineland filter each rated at 70 gallons and a undergravle filter the whole bottom of the tank

Adult size in 3 months? As in, a swordtail attaining 4 inches during that time? o_O That must be a loooot of water changes and food...
Mine are about 1.5 cm and 2 months old. I feed them daily 3-4 times a day powdered flakes, though I only do 1.5L water change daily on a 76L tank (20 gal) and 50% or 40% water change at the end of each week.

Not even the fish I've bought have reached adult size so far, I bought them 5 months ago, so I guess they were already 3 months old when I got them. They're still not 10 cm in size (4 inches).

If you have water suitable for typical livebearers, you just add water and feed regularly and wait about 4 weeks. Suitable water is free of both ammonia and nitrite and often shows a pH of around 7.4 or more. I have water at 7.8 pH and can collect as many fry as I wish from my breeding colonies. I pay no attention to specific breedings and simply remove the excess fry for sale every few months. If you have "ideal" water with a pH of 7.0 and relatively low mineral content, you may have more trouble than I do breeding the common livebearers. The whole group of poeciliids seems to prefer rather hard water with a high pH.
