because i noticed one fish have one little white spot and it tail fin, how long can i go without medacine?

i'm in the exact same situation, here's what i did as soon as i found a white dot my female guppy:

put in ick medicine
raised tempertuare to 80F
added a bit of aqarium salt (small amounts becuase i ahve otos and shrimps on the bottom)
Turned on the air pump to give more air to the water

and pray that it deosn't spread :)

can someone tell me i'm on the right track plase

Cutecotton, it sounds very much like what I've done, except that I've also been doing a gravel vac every day (removing about 15% of water) to get rid of the tomites.

I haven't seen any more spots now for about 4 or 5 days. Does anyone know how long I need to carry on for?

Tip I got- treat for 12 days everyday and do 20% water change EACH DAY before adding meds. Then after 12th day, continue to do same ever other day till the 16th day. I started with just salt and just got Rid Ick. So I've been using that for 6 days now. Unfornatly I started treating 1-2 spots on each fish, now its tail is covered in spots and I'm praying that with in my next 6 days it drops and goes away. I hate ick! I have to do water change and vacummn every day, and I just want to see my fish healthy. Bad thing is, now water is a tad cloudy, but that'll get fixed tomorrow. Also-- continue treatment for 3-4 days AFTER Last Sign of ick is gone to be certain you killed everything off. Never treated before my self, but its a link somewhere I had..... anyway, pretty much what I just said. good luck

ICH/whitespot should not be a problem, it is one of the easiest fish ailments to treat and be rid of.

At the first sign of the disease you should raise the temperature to 84f and do a very large water change making sure the replacement water is the same temperature as the tank water. Then begin a course of a ICH/whitespot medication, INTERPET #6 is my personal favourite as it is a 2 dose treatment and works very fast, if your fish are fully scaled and not salt sensative then add aquarium salt at a dose of 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. Within a week the disease should be destroyed, for the next week treat the tank daily with melafix to help repair any damaged skin and perform small water changes daily to remove the salt and medications you have used.

that sounds good, i thought 84F might be too high for my aqarium...but yesterday i started doing all that and today the spot on my female was almost all gone, no new spots developed on any of the other fishies either :D still going to wait and do a water change soon tho
