Ok a few years ago I bought a 30" long bubble bar airstone. 3/4 wrapped in plastic, it has connectors at either end. I have put the two outlets from my air pump into this, one outlet either end. Here comes the stupid question: am I doing it right? I still get patches of no bubbles :(

Air stones have a habit of not giving an even bubble flow
If your filter ripples the surface of the water enough, you don't need an air pump

The air pump is purely decorative with a surface breaking bonus :)

Might be worth buying a new one, Ebay do a 24" bendy bubble wall for about £5-£10, these make a very fine mist if layed on top and bigger bubbles if buried.
