How Does A Gravid Danio Look Like?

I'm a bit suspicious about the yellow area in the bottom of the fish...I don't think it was there before, but I've never seen a gravid danio so there is nothing to compare this with.

I did not know the meaning of yellowing...should find a book like "Fishkeeping for dummies" that explains the breeding details (maybe you have a good link?)

For reasons unclear, my 65g is transforming into a breeding ground...there are at least 3 danios like this, there are three or more of these:

and quite likely one P.Javanicus in the same condition. Not that there is any chance of anything alive surviving, way too many loaches around (and no large enough spare tank to even try breeding these danios). Darn.

to give any eggs/fry some kind of chance in a community set up
you need to provide plenty of java moss/christmas moss or similar whispy plant.
you can also try spawning mops as an alternative to plants.

don't get your hopes up, the chances, even with the above, are slim to nil.

I would not even try this. With 5 loach species in this unplanted tank, it would be a total waste of time.

What I may do is this: the next tank I'll be getting will be a 30 Breeder to be used as the Kuhli tank (I'm beginning to feel very bad about community tanks in general). Some time toward the end of spring.

Maybe I can experiment a little ... like let a couple of Danios cycle it (after a proper fishless cycle of course) before kuhlis are moved in. *Maybe* there will be some way of occassionally using this type of tank for breeding even with the kuhlis in, but I don't have too much hope.

BTW., I have a hillstream tank cycling right now. Still not totally sure why I got into this....
