how do you take care of mollie fry

Molly fry are good hiders and very fast. If you have enough good hiding places in your main tank, you should leave them there. What kinds of other fish do you have in the tank? If they are vulnerable, or you notice them being eaten by the other fish, take them out and put them in another smaller tank, but you have to make sure it's been cycled, good filter, airstone, etc. I made the mistake of moving mine to one that wasn't and lost 6 babies (only had 9). They tend to be bigger than other fry, so they will eat crushed flake food. If you leave them in your main tank and put in crushed flake food, chances are a lot of it will sink and they will definitely find it. Mollies also like to eat algae, so they will find that too. Good Luck.

Molly fry are pretty hardy and they can usually take care of themselves if you have a lot of hiding places in your tank. I always, to insure they don't get eaten, put them in a small one gallon with old tank water, gravel, cycled airstone for
about 1 month. I just dumped in 7 1-month old molly fry into my 12 gallon tank last night. :) So far they've been doing good. I fed my fry a mix of crushed flakes and daphia occaisonally with some bloodworms. They grew up on that. I have some mollies that are from November 4, 2003 and they still are only half the size of my full grown mollies but it depends on thier nutrition how fast they grow. Since I only have two, mine might both be females. I don't know when you can sex them. If you keep them in a completely separate tank then the rest of your fish then you should raise the temp. to 80. That's all I can remember. HTH! :D

i wouldnt know i havent had molly fry in 7 moths of having them, i dunno what i am doing wrong everything else mates like wild fire except my mollies

Bearing in mind that there is another alternative!!! You dont have to go through the expensive of setting up a breeding tank, or the stress of seeing the fry eaten by bigger fish. I used a breeding net to raise my 24 baby mollies and they all lived fine. its easier if you keep the mother in there before she gives birth and take her out after. I fed mine on Liquifry Food for Baby Livebearers. The mother shouldnt have this! after about 2 weeks I started feeding the normal flakes too and then took away the Liquifry gradually. Now they are about a month old and I have 5 left, I gave the rest to my local lfs. They are still in the net and doing fine!
