Calgary Alberta,
i thought i'd just pluh it in cause the useless manual doesn't seem to mention starting, so i plug it in and it makes loud noises and doesn't suck any water

so what am i suposed to do

oops sorry accidental duble post

pull the top off and check if the impeller is free to rotate... if not - clean it out...

if its freely rotating then put it back together and try again.

mine starts and stops without incident...

one of the girls at work got clogged up with scale on the impeller - i cleaned it all up and it started first time.

good luck.

Is this a hang on back power filter?
if so, fill it up with water until it runs out of the filter, then plug it in.

it's a canister and when I opened it up AT LEAST TEN GALLONS OF WATTER CAME THROUGH THE FILTER HOSE LIKE A SIPHON AND ONTO THE RUG

just got back from cleaning it up, parents are sure pissed
no-one has a solution sorta in a hurry?

could it be broken don't want to have to buy new one
