What do you do to your fish to reduce stress? I've heard of aquarium salt but would it work in freshwater tanks?

Yep, aquarium salt works in freshwater. But don't use it with cories, plecos, or any other scaleless fish. The salt irritates their skin.

Personally, I pour a bit of Stress Coat in the tank, and turn the tank lights off. I also limit movement around the outside of the tank.

If your fish are stressed then you are doing something wrong,

In a well bellanced eco-system they will not be stressed.

Check all your readings and go from there, also your mix of fish speceis could account for a bit of tension within the community, once all these are spot on you can relax and enjoy the fish.
