How Do You Pronounce 'betta'?

Here in the western US it is said "bay-tuh" with the emphasis on "bay"
 
I say "bay-tuh" and anyone who is anal enough to correct me will only hear me say "bay-tuh" with increasing emphasis until the conversation is finished. :p
