How Do You Pronounce 'betta'?

So! 'Bee-tah' or 'Better'?

i'm guessing it's where you're located at. and different accents.

Here's some trivia for you. I pronounce it as be-tah because there are two "T's". We pronounce "beta" as bay-tah (in "beta max" etc.) Since Hubby has taken Greek, he's informed me that we pronounce beta-max (bay-tah max) wrong too--it should be "be-tah"as well. My fish don't care as long as I don't call them "late to dinner".
