How do you guys fill up you fish tank???

I have to use a turkey roaster pot that caries about five gallons at a time 8)

I use python as well, water coming out of the tab straight into the tank while adding the conditioner. I put a little before adding water then I drop some here and there until the tank is completely filled.

Works fine for me...

this is exactly what i do too. and i always use hot water from the tap if i need to warm it up a little. problem right now is in south florida my tap water is coming out at about 90 degrees. i am just doing little bitty water changes right now and more frequently cause i don't want the temp to go up too much.

I just use rain water in a watering can for my 10gallon coldwater.

although now I'm wanting another 10gallon and a 25gallon i might have to devise a cunning ploy to get a hose up to my room, thn treat the water up there!!

2 x 12 litre buckets filled with tap water and conditioner (and a bit of hot water to bring the temp up a touch).

I use a gravel hoover to syphon the old water out. Then i put each bucket of 'new' water ontop of the stepladders and syphon the water into the tank with another length of pipe. This way i don't upset the gravel, plants, etc. when the new water is going in and can direct the colder water away from the fish (although the danios like to play in the colder water )

I do this for both 30g tanks and the 15g at least once a week

takes about 30 mins to add the wate back on a 30% water change.

Does this me you, or anyone else that feels like answering, slowly pour the water into the tank a little at a time?

When I do a waterchange, I fill the bucket, add dechlorinator and dump in in the tank. I don't just tip the bucket upside down, but today I changed ~4 gallons and poured it in in under a minute.

Or...are you saying it takes so long because you have to keep refilling buckets?

I have four 5 gallon buckets, I fill 3 of them right when I get home from work at 4 with warm water and conditioner and let them sit on the counter untill the kids go to bed and I have some free time. Then I use the vacuum to take water out into the 4th bucket and carry it outside and water my flowers with it, 3 trips outside later and then the fresh water goes back in, I am lucky enough to have my tank right next to our entertainment center so I can sit the buckets on top of that to siphon back in. I use the gravel vac to siphon it back into the tank, usually takes about 7-9 minutes per bucket to get them siphoned into the tank.

If you plan to use a garden hose make sure it is clean and does not have chemicals in it. I lost about $200 worth of fish becuse my garden hose had sun-rotted and added some sort of plastic stuff to the water, which killed my fish(including a 12" bala shark and a 8" Scat, along with may others ) Now i use clean "fish" jugs especially for filling up tanks or RV hoses(clear) or a python.

I use a large, sturdy (5G?) plastic bucket. I wish I could use a hose, but then that leaves me with the problem of how to get it up 2 flights of stairs to my room... hmmmm....

For the 10 gallon tank, I use a three gallon bucket.
For the bettas I use a 1 gallon container and a 2 quart bucket.

Another 2 gallon bucket for tapwater as I try to get the water to the right temp and another two three gallon buckets where the old tank water is drained into. All that water is then used to water the plants...which are quite happy with the old tank water
