how do YOU catch the little bugger

i saved the tiny cups they came in and catch them in those, then float the cup in the new tankwater to acclimate them :D

Mine give me no problems. They are conditioned that if they go in the net they know what is coming...they get fed once they are in the olding tanks lol. I use those from Walmart that you get for $3 ea to hold them during water changes...dang fish are really smart..they figured it out quick. I just stick the net in under them and scoop them out..no one trys to dodge me or sneak away lol, then once they are in the tank..they get a good meal of frozen bloodworms.

I always use my cup for the same thing. :p
I sewed a little red line on the inside of my net, he jumps right in. :D

I dont know if I would catch one of my bettas with my hands. Even if I rinsed them, your hands have salt and oils on them that can damage their slim coat. I guess maybe my fishies are just used to being scooped so I never had to worry about netting them, of handleing them. My other fish now like my mollies I have to use a soft net...they are not to easy to nab with the cup. MM

I scoop some water into a disinfected margerine tub and then catch them with a net and let them swim around in there. Once i'm done with their tanks I scoop them up in either the clear little cup they came in or a ziplock bag with the zipper cut off and float them in the top. I've never had any trouble with catching my males, I had one that would swim right into it. Now Dacey is ornery, and fast, but it only takes me a few minutes usually to catch her.

I scoop him up in a measuring jug, where he flares at the mirror I put in and/or gets fed any moths I catch. But he gets them anyway.

I carefully pour out most of the water being careful not to dump out the fish as well. Then I take the little cups they came in, pour the remaining water and betta into it and I'm done. Then, after I've refilled their tank, I drain most of the water from the cup, so I'm not putting much mucky water back, leaving just enough to cover him, then its back into his container. I usually will do 4-6 at a time so that the water in their tank has time to condition and come to room temp before they go back in. Its kind of a little assembly line of cups in my kitchen every weekend.
