How Do You Arrange The Filter Media In Your Canister?

like from top to bottom, what's the arrangement? (e.g. top basket = bioballs, middle = noodles and bottom basket = wool)

I am assuming the inlet and outlet are both on top.

maybe the arrangement does not matter?

You have the arrangement back to front, even assuming the in and out are at the top.
Generally, the ceramic rings or plastic balls at the bottom, maybe with a coarse sponge on top, the bio media next and finish off with a filter wool pad.

noodles in bottom basket , then bioballs in next basket, then bio sponges in next basket , then carbon pouch then carbon sponge then filter floss pad in top, although have removed carbon pouch and sponge and repleced with another two bio sponges........

The water flow in a typical canister is from bottom to top. That means you start on the bottom with a coarse mechanical filter followed by layers of biological media and topped off by a fine polishing type filter like filter wool. For me that means coarse and finer sponges on the bottom, biomedia in the middle, more biomedia in the top basket and a thin layer of polishing media right before the impeller at the top. With your media, the noodles are mechanical media as well as biological, so they go first in the bottom. Then the bioballs come next and finally a layer of the filter wool on the top. Since the wool takes up very little space, you could add lots of biomedia to the top basket before laying the wool on the top of it.

for those using sponges on every basket, does the sponge goes on top on the noodles/bioballs or at the bottom?

no. you do not need both mechanical and biological media in each basket.

first, it depends on what filter you have. that will determine the set up of your media.
as oldman said, most canisters water flow is bottom to top. assuming your filter runs the same way, you would only put mechanical media in the first (bottom) basket. the other 2/3/4 baskets would be filled with your bio media (ceramic rings, bio-balls, or professional media). the first basket will stop floating debris from flowing through the rest of your media.
