i want to get some snails in my tank but dont have any algae and dont want to buy algae wafers....so how can i make algae in the tank?

Lighting on for 16 hours a day, double feeding.

Algae is triggered by ammonia, so increase lighting and over feed slightly, and you'll have algae within a week.

hmmm i have cory cats in mine though and they are sensitive to light...i have a good hiding spot but i dont want them to suffer for a week,
also isnt ammonia in the tank bad

unplugging the filter would be a really great help.... you will get an ammonia spike then your fish will die giving an even greater amount of ammonia and then algae will grow aplenty :)

Get real.

rudeness was very unnecessary

ignorant so and so
he was only asking a question,

sorry for sounding like i'm ignorant but this guy is giving lots of advice in alot of topics and then he asks if he should turn off his filter.

In my opinion if he is so knowledgable about fish how come he dosen't know the consequences of turning off his filter?

Easiest way to grow algae without risking tank pollution is to leave some fish fod in water in a jam jar on a warm windowsill -guarnteed to grow green algae within a week especially in summer!. I have dozens of snails which just live on leftover fish food, though I do feed my mollies algae pellets sometimes. Why not give the snails some fresh veg -cucumber, courgette, lettuce, potato. Your fish will probably enjoy it too, depending on species.
