I bought this lily type plant today:

I used to have a similar type plant, which had a bulb, which I planted fully into the substrate before I found out the top of the bulb needed to be exposed. Needless to say, that plant rotted and died.

This new plant did not have a bulb, but just had a few roots connected to the stem.

Does anyone know how deep into the substrate I should plant the stem? I don't want to see another rotting plant again!

Thanks!

im unsure of that. normally lillies come with a bulb whihc you plant as you have mentioned.

do you have a pic of said roots and stems?

Here is one of them:

There's not really that much in the way of roots. The bunch was wrapped in rockwool when I got them.

if it's one of the baby plants that has come off the main bulb, then you're not gonna have a bulb. I have one that come un attatched from the bulb in my tank and wrapped the roots into a ball and planted the roots leaving the bottom of the plant exposed and now its growing really well, now forming its own bulb.

at the bottom of the pic...its taken 3 months to grow like this, in a low tech tank.
