How Do I Make My Tank Look Better

Thank you for that information I never really thought about that but now that I have it does actually make sense but I usually porn the water over it anyway rather than boil the rocks and where would you suggest I put this rock tower. I do have small rocks that I have pushed into the sand and I was going to put dwarf grass around them do you think that sounds like a good idea from Tom

Add a plain black background, it will give the tank depth and make the colours of the fish, ornaments and plants stand out better

The hardscaping materials you have in there are a very similar height, it will add to the dynamics of the tank if they are more varied although once your taller plants have grown more that will help.

How do I make my tank look better and make it so that the fish come out and swim nearer the front. At the minute I am not happy with the way my tank looks and the fish are hiding in the back and I need some ideas or how to make it look better and to encourage the fish to come out. I have attached a photo of tank at the minute.
You want to make your tank look better??? Get rid of all the fake stuff in the tank, then get rid of the coral.. That would help...

Personally I'd leave the background as it is, or add a translucent frosted backing. I've got black-backed and translucent-backed tanks and I'm currently digging the open look better as it adds a sense of brightness and space to the tank.

For a black background to look good it needs to be about 70% obscured by plants, IMO.

Thanks for all your suggestions I really like the plain background rather than putting one in and hambone I don't know if you have seen the updated picture there is only 2 fake plants In there now and they are only in there until i can get some plants of a medium height that I like. Also I don't know what to put in place of the big piece of coral so any suggestions would be great. I also wanted to put dwarf hairgrass around the front of the the big piece of coral and all around the smaller bits of stone but don't know how they would look from Tom

Boiling rocks is fine, but if like me you put them in the oven at 200 degrees C now that's dangerous, stupid and unnecessary, :p
Main reason I use backgrounds and they would either black, or stone or roots image is to hide hoses and wiring,
As you've gone real with the plants, it's now a waiting game for them to grow and fill out, or you could add more and more, can you have too many plants (I don't think so :p )
