i have had my kribs for about 6 months and they keep laying eggs. but none have ever hatched, they just disappear after a few days, the longest the eggs have survived is about 7 days. is there any reason for them not hatching?
what can i do to make them hatch?
could my male be infertile?

Are you sure the eggs are being fertilised. Your male fish may not swim that way if you get me....

the male turns really red and follows the female into a cave, and both parents both guard the eggs. although i've never seen the male fertilise the eggs.

may just be a dodgy male u got.

Nothing u can do other them try a new male and hope they pair up, and keep feeding lots of live foods.

what colour are the eggs before they go missing?
might help you find out if your males fertile before you get another
scot :)

the eggs are bright orange, does this mean that they have been fertilized?

the kribs have just laid some more eggs a few minutes ago, and they are clear, but previous times they were orange. could this mean that before they weren't fertilised but now they have been?

any help please!

Orange means they are fertilized. Clear means they aren't. If the egg's have survived 7 day's, then the male or female has been eating them.

they eggs are just starting to turn yellowy, could they have been fertilised?

thanks!

the female, why?

they are mouth brooders...sometimes the female will put the eggs. even the fry in her mouth to protect them...not necessarily eating them. BUt YES they do eat them....i would just let it happen naturally....it takes the pair a few times of spawning and what not to get it right. Eventually they will not eat them and protect them....My kribs had 3 sets of fry already but none have survived...althou i do have other fish in my tank....but also like others said...u might need a new male...
