i am just abou t to buy some guppies, what should i look for in guppies, whats the price and whats the ratio female to male

the ratio is one male to two females and matter if u want ordinary lfs guppys which are 2.50 or 2 pounds female are cheaper, or some sort of specail breed guppy over the net for like 100 pounds of sumthing like that!!!

Ok...guppies are cheap ($1.5 -2.5) in australia. Look at a 2 female : 1 male ratio. Look for fishes that appear looking normal (no abnormalities) don't get fish that aren't swimming all the time (Could be sick) Look for any signs of fungus or white spots /yellow/brown. Anysort of sickness for that matter. Now perhaps you shouldv'e posted this in begginers?? ;) HAPPY FISH KEEPING

Forgot to add...these are shoalers and perhaps you should get 10 (min 6)

Erm guppies aren't shoalers, you can have as few as you like but keep in mind having a ratio of 1 male to 2 or 3 females, any more males and the females will get picked on and stressed out.

How are you computer?I have to agree with my british friend William, guppies are not shoalers---sorry my aussy friend---But it's true the ratio must be one male to two females.
There are many varieties of guppies but, always look for a happy energetic kind of fish.If what you want is something better that the typical guppy you see at the local pet store ,go to one of the places where they auction them like aquabid.com.Remember these are show quality fish but,if you e-mail some of the breeders you might get some not quite as good as show quality fish, but at a great price and still way better than anything you have ever seen at your LFS.
If that's the way you want to go,I have a few friends I can put you in contact with......Harry.
