How Cold Is To Cold For A Betta?

Durbkrat, get a bigger betta bowl. their are 1.5G (for alittle over $4) at Michaels Craft supply.

Well I don't believe their is a heater small enough for a 1/2g. Any other way?

Uh, get a bigger tank  Double whammy result then, you can heat it AND they actually have a big enough tank! Now wouldn't that be nice, the chance for them to swim!

i agree
imho a 1/2 a gallon is too small for a betta
For the sake of £5(dollars anyone?) you can get a decent sized 3-5gallon kritter keeper or bowl, all it takes is an hour or so to go and buy it and change the gravel.
that way you can heat it and the betta can actually move.......

germanshepherdlver the betta can move and I don't have room on my desk for a 3-5g kritter keeper.

RandomWiktor The reason I removed the bettas from the holding container hanging on the inside of the heated 10g was because the holding container is smaller than their bowls and I couldn't even put one of them in the 10g because as you can see in my sig the fish I have in the 10g aren't compatible. Also can't float tank in 10g because the tank is made of glass and would sink.

If you stacked them how would they get oxygen? Also if you have these lets see a pic.

Sorry, your post wasn't particularly clear. It sounded like you had some in a 10 gal and moved them.

Definately need a bigger bowl and a proper heater. Using a light for heat is not a good idea. Firstly, it's very inconsistent in heating. Secondly, fish need dark time just like we do, and as soon as you turn the light off for them to rest, the temperature will drop off, leading to even more inconsistent water temps. A half gallon bowl is not a sufficient home for your betta if you cannot maintain a healthy temperature for the fish. Do him a favor and upgrade and heat, it's worth the extra room on your desk.

Well when the light is off they are wraped up in a towel and then my bedroom window is closed and my ceiling fan is turned off so it gets pretty warm in my room.

that still doesn't solve the issue of inadequate water volume, though.

This will still leave an inconsistent temperature.

So... lemme get this straight. you came on here asking how to heat your tank properly. Every single person gave you the same advice: it needs a bigger tank so it can have a proper heater. Anything less is not caring for it properly. You have shot down that advice every single time, and now appear to be mocking us with little eye-rolling smiley faces and saying you aren't going to change the conditions.

And you posted why?

:grr:

No I already knew I couldn't heat the bowl with a heater so I was wondering if their were other ways of heating it.
