How Clean Is Your Skimmer?

I was doing my water change last night and whilst emptying the water out i looked at my skimmer and thought you dirty individual so i pulled it out and cleaned it in a bucket put it back on my tank and wow its hum quiet i didn't realise how noisy it had got when it was getting full of gunk. It was so loud i could hear it over the telly but now i don't even notice it.


So yeah just how clean is your skimmer? have a look and you might be surprised at what is building up inside. Might even quieten it down a little

I strip mine down once a week, less for noise more for smell

I empty my skimmer cup every couple of days as my skimmer is now on show and I don't like staring at fish poo.

As for the rest of it there's a bit of gunk at the bottom but not enough yet to reduce it's efficiency.
