How can you tell if your betta is a dyed fish?

I checked out the deathbydyeing website and bettas were listed. I thought that they were naturally colored by selective breeding.

I am wrong?

That must be some false information because I've read a lot about breeding bettas and they are selectivly bred to show their best colors not dyed. Also, dyed fish lose there color towards the end of their lives whereas bettas do not.

I wonder how many other natural colored fish are on that list....

Let me re-phrase this; betta's will lose color toward the end of their live but nothing compared to dyed fish. They'll also temporarly lose color if they are stressed ;)

I know some Betta have been dyed and it's usually obvious because of the color looks so wrong on the fish. It's rare to run into a dyed Betta though.
