ok so i dont get it, hes just so blah, how can i get my bolivian ram brighter!!!!!
i see german rams now and i relize i just should have gotten one of those insted but is there anyway i can make the ram i have now brighter?

do you think i should just return him and get a german, or will i need a better excuse???

PLEASE HELP

i see that link, i want mine to look like him....
thats sorta wat the question is if u didnt relize.....

I got my bolivian rams (x2) from someone who had them in with bigger cichlids like Blue Acara's and Uaru, also the tank didnt have much decor, i put the rams in my planted up tank and they are now much more colourful, although saying that, there's only so much colour you gonna get from a Bolivian, but i love mine.

I would say, and not only from my own experience, but others, Bolivian Rams are perhaps better suited to good old fashioned planted community set-ups, even with tetra's and guppies etc like mine. The danger would be if the Rams bred i guess, but mine look lovely, will try and get some pics done later this week, as the Rams were not in the tank when i last took the pics

Mine been in there for a few weeks, as good as gold, but like any cichlids, personalities can vary i guess!!!

wow, fish keeping isn't about having a pretty fish. its about having and caring for a pet. it comes with responsibility. its not just something you can exchange for a new one if its not colorful enough for you.

i did realise, i dont know how to help on getting it to there, but i was answering one of your questions, more specifically, the last question you asked :)

the way i see it, if you keep a fish you aren't interested in, you will end up taking less care of it than you might a fish that holds your interest, so i see nothing wrong in returning a fish that, for whatever reason, you don't want to keep. However, if it's simply looks then you should keep in mind that there are many things that influence color. Diet, water quality, PH, lighting levels, number of plants/caves, other tank inhabitants, and being new to a tank all can influence the amount of color shown.

Also, just a thought, germans can be more colorful, but tend to be less hardy so you will need to be careful with them.

Color enhancing foods should help. Color flake, Color bits, brine shrimp and spirulina flake should help. Mix these guys in with the normal diet, and you may start to see a difference.

hey so i decided to keep him and today i went to my lfs to buy some brine shrimp when i saw IT, the most beautiful blue german ram i have ever seen. Ofcourse i had to get him lol

when i put in the tank, the worst happened
the bolivian ram attacked the german ram, his new names Raul lol, well i could save him in timr with no fin nips or anything and i put the bolivian in a little makeshift tank, Raul is now supper paranoid but hes getting better,

anyone know what i should do with the bolivian?
is he like posesed, or could i offer him to one of my friends?

thanks
oh and srry for being rude about not answering the question musho3210

these are cichlids and all cichlids are territorial. They will keep fighting. And.. by the by, what size is this tank? It's not the 5g in your profile, is it?

no no no , this is our 20 gallon family tank, the 5 gallon one in my profiles just the one in my bedroom
ok so all because he like attacked the german, doesnt mean hes like posesed? so its safe to give him away right?

Are you really asking that question? He attacked because the german ram was in his territory. That's completely normal cichlid behavior. Not because of some... supernatural influence. you should have done some more researching, you'd have known that would happen. But yes, he's safe to give away.

sorry but you sound like a bit of an idiot, you obviouslly did no research. and possesed? r u serious, like said before, that is normal cichlid teritorial behavior. I dont even have any cichlids and I know that.

This is a very old thread but here goes, as i continuosly see newbies get flamed and I feel it should not be like that.

So do you sound like an i...... with your rude and arrogant attitude. Posting and asking questions is part of the learning process, but if people continued to get knocked then it dont help.
