what ways can i make a pond safe because my mum said i could have one if it was safe enough that my 5 and 9 year old bros would fall or jump in it

a hinged wooden or metal frame with
wire or
very thick perspex/acrilic/glass on it
or make it a raised pond
or a semi raised pond half in ground half out

if you havnt already made it, i would build a brick circle or octagon and then have the pond raised like that, but if you have already made it then a big grid of steel to cover the top.

i havent made it coz my mum wont let me untill shes sure my bro wont try to swim in it

have it semi raised about 2ft out the ground.

if this isn't enough have a small trellis/rails on top of the raised pond walls.

You can have a custom made iron grating made to go over the pond, this is expensive but it is by far the most safest way to protect children from ponds- it will be too heavy for them to lift up and it will more than support their weight if they walk on it, there's no getting through it.

Black interlocking grills, similar to egg crate but much stronger can be bought now. It is attached and sits about 5cm below the surface so as not to be seen...try major garden centers or online..this stuff literally allows you to walk on water,lol..

never liked the sound of this stuff and will make it way to easy for fish to catch themselves on.

also how do they feed? ive never looked into the stuf.

i know theres also a netting out that it really strong. Its about 3inch squares but can hold at fully grown man. There was a picture on another forum of the guy sitting on it and he weighed about 13 stone or so.

hi
you could use trellis or picket fencing to create an area around the pond so youve got room to move around or sit down or
as said steel grills are good idea
the ones that sit under the water are ok for stopping you from falling in but you can still drown in a few cm's of water

the only real way to be safe is to teach the kids to respect the water and the dangers of it

if they are your little bros tell them you will whoop their asses if they go near it lmao (dont think your mum would go for that option)
lol

Throw them in there. After going in, they won't go near it anymore.
and my 5 year old bro will still go in there hes a nutter

thanx for all the help ill show my mum and see which one she thinks will be safest
