Hi,

Please help me get rid of what ever this is ... Fungus?

I treated my 4 years mature Fluval Roma 90l tank with Interpet Fungus Treatment. (I use an external Fluval 106 cannister filter)

That seemed to work but made my tank water pretty bad.

Anyway I changed the water sorted out it all out and then the fungus came back.

So this time I set up a small 12l hospital tank where I kept the fish for 2 weeks. The fungus had cleared up after a week but I left the fish in the hospital tank an extra week to make sure.

Anyway its been about a month now and the fungus is back.

I can't seem to cure it completely. My water parameters are as follows:

Nitrate/Nitrite = practically 0
Phosphate = practically 0

What is causing this? It only affects this one fish and I have another one of the same type (Phantom Tetra).

Thanks.

Has the fish got a cut or a sore that's turned fungus'd?

If so you could try a salt water dip - just add a little salt to a seperate vessel with some water (tap water will be okay so long as it's temp matched) and add the fish to this vessel and allow it to sit in the salt water for 5 minutes or so. Repeat this process for about a week and see if it improves.

Make sure you don't add any salt to your tank. It can mess up your water stats for a start and not all fish can tolerate it (cories and pleco's mostly)

Thanks Akasha72.

It seems to have cleared up, but I'll try that salt bath if it returns again.
