i have one male goldfish which is ready to breed because he has the pimples on the gill covers, the other female goldfish sometimes chases the male around, and then the male chases the female.

they bot live in a 20 gallon tank, they are both 5", they are currently living in the basement with water temperature of 60F. i can tell they still they want to breed because i see the ornaments flipped upside down, the male chases the female very fast.

my question is how do i breed them?, i REALLY REALLY need the fry because i need to feed my big fish, healthy goldfish fry, thats all he eats, live fish. i have a heater that i can use to raise the temp. to 90F. and such, can someone explain me how exactly i should breed them?, i also have a few plants in there. i feed both goldfish: brine shrimp, tubifex worms, shrimp pellets, flakes, goldfish pellets, bloodworms, veggies, and more.

btw, the water is extremely clean, i mean like 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates, and is crystal clear, the filter i have has a 1 year old filter pad, and gravel with growing algae which is a good sign of a well cycled fish tank.

the goldfish in my pond breed with no interfearence at all. just leave them to it and they should geton with it. also, try threading those little dead frozen fish from the LFS onto sewing thread and dragging them through the water to feed your big fish in the meantime. don't let him eat the thread obviously. also, try to wean him off live fish - its cruel, i mean, you wouldn't like it it your kids were fed to someone....

this is old, but my goldfish are now in a huge pond, hopefully they have bred by now

oh goodie, i was going to say they needed a bigger tank, and btw, as far as i know, goldfish need to experience winter n order to breed, cuz they normally breed in the spring
