prehaps if you flesh out you request?
thing is, most things are covered. maintanance and repair, get covered in the hardware section. adaptions and inventions, are in the diy section. and so on.

yeah, I agree with boboboy here. It's not like there is an overwhelming number of filter questions that are (for lack of a better word) polluting the rest of the forums and subforums. What filter questions & comments need to be made that can't be covered in the other sections, or are inappropriate for the other sections?

There are already too many forums IMO. Some more subforums wouldn't hurt but again, that needs to be carefully managed so they don't become a problem themselves. Maybe a subforum under hardware would be appropriate?

There are but others tend to disagree so I figured a compromise of a subforum would be better. There are enough filter questions scattered throughout the other forums they could keep a subforum going actively.

a'ha, so a sub forum in the hardware section? i have thought of something like that before, thing is, i have experience from another forum, the posts on the subject will, almost always, still end up in the Tropical Chat section, as now, giving the mods yet another job cleaning up.

Perhaps a sub section in the scientific forum? as most other areas of the "filter" get covered already.

I agree. Chit Chat is fine for filter questions. I think we have too many forums & sub forums already and too much stuff already ends up in the wrong forum (Cycling question in the Science Forum now).
