How And Why Did You Join This Forum?

Me and the gf started a tank and bought a bunch of fish that were incompatable. started doing research on what i could put in the new tank and found this site. now i spend hours a day on this site reading, trying to absorb/adsorb all the information i can.

i just googled fish forums and tried this one - i was looking to get an id on a fish id had for 4years(!), eventually got an id from forum member and just stayed with this forum.i've had no probs with anyone, managed to get a great deal on a big tank from fellow member and had a laugh at some threads. sounds good to me!!! :good:

ummmm i really can't remember, always used web forums so i guess it's a natural progression to find one for one of my biggest hobbies

I joined because 5 out of 6 of my new fish died. That was just a few days ago, so i'm now here to learn xD

I joined this site when i stripped down my reef tank to change back to freshwater tropicals, hence Backtotropical.

I think i was looking for ideas on plants as i had never visited that side of the hobby before.

As others have said, the traffic on TFF is exceptional compared to other forums. :good:

I knew everything about fishkeeping before i joined, and now i know everything and a whole lot more. Thanks TFF!

I can't remember that far back (August '04). I was probably was having a problem, Googled it, and wound up here. I'm glad I had that problem. :D

After just now reading my first post, it looks like I joined because I had recently bought my second tank and was looking to learn more about this mysterious thing called cycling. :wizard:

original 9/1/04 post:
Hello All,

I've been reading posts for the past month and finally decided to join. Thanks for all that I've learned - from cycling a tank to doing regular water changes. My 35 gallon has been active for 13 years including 2 moves with no major problems. Now that I look back, it's amazing it ran as well as it did. Ignorance is bliss.

I recently got the MTS bug and purchased a new 16 gallon bow combo (tank, light & stand) for an awesome price that I couldn't pass up ($75 US). I'm still deciding what will go in it after it cycles and has been running for some time. I'm leaning towards a pair of Blue Rams with Rasboras or Rummy Nose.

(end of post)

Well after all that time, I still have all of my 7 original rasboras. :D

ha ha, just looked up my first post, was in this topic http://www.fishforums.net/content/forum/13...-So-It-Begins-/

which was just after i got together with my lovely other half who made the post in question about his first ever tank. so i suspect what happened is he told me he had found a good fish forum and gave me the link.

funny how it all turns out, when we got together he was just starting that tank up, i had a community tank, an oscar and a parrot fish in a 30 gal tank that was too small for them (we all make newbie mistakes). he shortly got another tank and got a betta for it, i got a bigger tank for the oscar and parrot fish and then set up the 30 as another community tank. then i got a small tank for a betta. so i had 4 tanks running, then he moved in with both his tanks, then a work colleague told me they were selling their 30 gal, so we got that and set it up with african cichlids. then sold both 30gals to make room for a small reef tank, then we re-homed the oscar and parrot fish and set up the really big tank as a marine tank. when the betta's passed on we stripped down both of those tanks and now all we're left with is the 60 gal in the thread above that's Ian's first tank. (although we do actually have a 10gal and a 350l tank sat in the living room, currently for sale if anyone's interested!)
