Hey everyone,

I work at a Petstore and someone came in and left a bag of two Blood Red Parrots floating in our Koi Pond. We couldn't put them on the floor (for sale) because they're not store fish, and selling fish of an unknown origin is against policy. They were put into a ten gallon in the back room, because that is the only running tank we have back there. This tank has housed sick fish before as it is a sick tank, so I am really worried about the health of the parrots. One is 5 inches, and one is 2.5 inches, and in the small space, the larger one is beating on the other one. I don't know what to do...I'm worried about them back there, and know they won't survive in one piece for very long.

I have a 20 gallon tank that is 25"Lx12"Hx16"W....is this big enough for temporary housing for a couple months, until I can afford to buy a used tank and stand as permanent housing? They'd be better off with me, I'm sure, although I'd have to throw together a pretty Ghetto tank for them, with a Corner Filter and a strip light....but.....I'm just concerned!

So, what do you think?

yes anything bigger than the ten gallon would be better but they will eventually need a 55 us gallon at least, make sure they are not in with any fish though as they may be ill.

I know I'll be able to move them, eventually, or find them a good home. I'm pretty much addicted to fish now, and have a lot of tank plans...guess I'll just have to fit Parrots into those plans now! haha! They'll probably go into the 20, then to a 33 in a couple of months, and to a 60-75 when I can afford it...I can get them relatively cheap in the bargain finder!

I have a 55 gallon in the garage that has a few little cracks in the bottom corner. Is there anyway to fix this so it will still be able to hold water? If so...that'd be awesome

It's hard to say about the cracked tank, as we cant see the cracks and how deep they are. Personally, I don't know if the risk is worth it. Just the chance that 55gs of water could be ''released'' into the house would scare me into not using it. Often people will buy tanks like that for lizards, so I'm sure you could get some money for it.

As someone already said, the bigger the tank the better. Hiding spots would be a good idea to keep the big guy away from his little friend.
