Hey there my fellow Fish People and happy Friday!!

So I just purchased 2 10gal tanks and I also have a 5gal. I want to make one of them a hospital/quarantine tank and am wondering which would be best for that. Also I would love some suggestions on what to do with the other two.
TIA!!!

What other tanks do you have running?

A 10 gallon, stocked wisely, will have half a dozen small fish. If you purchase carefully, from a good source, they'll go years without ever needing isolation. You can put 2 sponge filters in each 10, and pack the 5 away. If you need it, pop a sponge over into it. Otherwise, it'll gather dust.

If you have a bunch of other tanks, the story is different.

I currently have a 75gal community tank that's been running since August 8th with 3 Golden Dojos and 9 Neon Tetras. I've had tanks on and off over the years but this one is the first one that I'm learning to do it right as far as cycling and researching different types of fish. And maaannnn the addition is REAL!! But I'm loving the journey for sure!

A 10 gallon would be the wiser option

Just for context, I am a fishnerd with 60 aquariums in a dedicated fishroom. My enjoyment is breeding fish. I always run a spare filter or indeed, several spare filters. If I need a hospital tank, I set one up on the fly.
I think the last time I needed one was 7 years ago. If you are buying a lot of fish from shaky sources, then you may need to medicate. But outside of quarantine, the standard store diseases are usually parasites, which are never limited to one fish. If you skip QT, you end up treating the entire tank they went into. I QT all new arrivals for 3 months, in their own tanks, but I have those resources. Usually, they just stay in the QT tank for good, since they are always planted and filtered tanks anyway. That's how you end up with 60 tanks.

A QT tank has to be large and comfortable for the fish - stress causes illness. So my question is - how often do you think you'd need a tank as a hospital?

Hopefully I will never need it. There's only one LFS that I shop at and he's been in business for years and has a huge following and rating. I've done alot of research and it seems like it's the thing to do. I have also learned that there are a kazillion different opinions that often contradict each other, it can get a little overwhelming at times.

This is just one of the many reasons why I'm here. Everyone has been super helpful on this forum and y'all have cleared alot if confusion! I appreciate y'all!!
