I have found some hose connectors (airline nipples) on RS Components (I think).

Can anyone indicate which size I will need for 6mm airline - all their components are imperial. Is 6mm airline 1/4 inches?

edit: Link expired. Go to rswww.com and search for "506-7200"

Any advice as to which ones I'd need?

I've looked on RS site and the one I think will be ok (assuming you are using it to fit into a co2 bottle) would be a 'Series 23 male coupling plug 1/4" part no. 423-9325' You would need a nut to fit. £1.69p each, stock qty=5.

If it don't work, 'it wasn't me, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove anything'

Yes they would do but the thread is 3/8 bsp. I don't know if nuts come in bsp (British standard pipe) thread. Did a RS search & it came up with 3 sizes, the smallest being 1/2".

Even with the ones I said the nut could be a problem. Looks to be 1/4 as well but may also be bsp.

Imperial (or Whitworth, if they are still available) may fit but it's so logn ago that I used these (all metric now) I can't remember. I'm sure Whitworth is a coarse thread similar to bsp & if so plumbers thread tape could help.

Is this for CO2?

I've tried looking around for some connectors. In the end i used airline connectors, should be able to get them from the fish shop. Those that you use to join the airlines together, come in a pack with straight, T and right angled ones. Just drill a 5mm hole in the bottle and glue the bit in place. :good:

Hi voo,

These are for a DIY CO2 system - I have tried just gluing the co2 pipe into the bottle top, but it doesn't make a very good seal.

The ones on RS Components appear to be the right ones. They are £1.20 + vat each, but postage is about £4.50!

I might order a load and then sell them on to share out the postage costs. Do you think people would be interested?

I might add a poll to the planted tank section to canvas people's opinion

The airline connectors i used were only £1.20 for the lot of them, certainly a bit cheaper ;) They seem to be holding ok so far, although i'm still waiting for the glue to dry then i'll add silicon. They're made from hard plastic so hopefully they'll hold better than what tubing does.
