The topic states the basic question. I have just bought my first tank that is drilled with a w/d filter. The guy that I bought it from helped me with putting the tank together, but he did not mention how to hook up the water pumps. I have been looking online for my pumps, but the lingo is beyond me. There is mention of 1" MPT... what is that? How do I hook up the pump to my tubes (they are the ribbed kind, like pool tubes). I hope this explination is clear. If not, I'll get pics. :) Thanks.

Also, I would like to say that I have been looking at Quiet One pumps and my tank is 125gls (I measured the tubes and they are 1.25" from the outside, not the inside).

MPT and FPT are the fittings on the pump or pipes, Male Pipe Threading or Female Pipe Threading. If your pump has a 1" MPT connector, you will need to attach the pipe to a 1" FPT, they will then connect. If your pipes are larger, you can get reducing or expanding fittings which have, say, a 1" MPT one side and a 1.25" FPT the other.
