Brought 3 Julii Cory's yesterday (as mentioned in another topic), woke up this morning and could only see 2, thought nothing of it :) Got home, still no 3rd Cory? So I decided to do a water change and maybe temp them out, did so, moved EVERYTHING in my tank around, no 3rd fish?!

Where the HELL could it of gone? I pullet out all my plants, removed and checked my piece of mopani several times, even checked inside my filter!

Soooo confussed :(

They are good at hiding. Hopefully he is just hiding. Who are his tank mates? Was he acting odd at all? All catfish and loaches are good at duck and cover.

Dispite the fact I have a very secure fitted lid, i did check all around, nothing. I can handle finding a dead fish, I cant handle just not finding a fish!

*EDIT*

Only tank mates are 2 young male guppies? Lol, noway they could eat the whole thing (far bigger then them), in one night with no remains! Im under the impression cory's dont bury themselfs?

I've never seen a cory completely eaten by any fish, let alone a couple guppies, usually at least the bony head is left. I've never known a cory to bury itself either.

Such a mystery. I hope you find it. He's probably hanging out somewhere, watching you look for him and laughing at you. ;)

Well I officially have no idea, my tank isnt that big and the number of potential hiding spots left is 0. If he doesnt show by tomorrow ill have to blaim it on witch craft and get another. :byebye:

How small are they, could they fit inside of the filter inlet??... My daughter lost two neons in this way.... Might be worth a look.??

Took the whole thing apart, no luck :(

I had a cory once that did hide in the sand. It is not common, but it is possible.
Did you remove the decor when you were looking for it? I have had them still hiding in the things I pulled out also. They can also be very good at moving from one thing to another without being seen while you are moving things around looking for them.
I would get another, and then if it shows up it will have a friend. If it is hiding you will have a better chance of getting it to come out if it has friends to keep it from being so shy. :good:

Look everywhere around the tank, all over the floor.
Everyone has this happen to them at least once, I am sure you have looked very hard but he/she is probably just hiding somewhere unnoticeable. They are just really good at it.

If your really, really worried its gone, then just take half the water out of the tank and take everything out but the gravel.

Good luck and I bet it will show up sooner or later.

Drew

Ill double check the gravel but I dont have high hopes :( i like the sound of another friend, cant get enough of my new cory's :p Always thought they were a little ugly, now think there cute! Lol

*Edit*

Checked all the gravel, he's not there, looks like he just dropped off the edge of the earth.

The good news is that I also have had them disappear for ages and then turn up alive and well. This happens most especially when there are not very many--like 2 or 3. The bad news is that I have had fish almost completely disappear overnight, eaten by snails and other inhabitants. I have had them disappear completely and assume they were eaten. I also assume that guppies would gladly partake of any meal offered.

Im sure my guppies wouldnt say no but im really struggling to believe 2 small guppies can eat a whole cory overnight, leaving absolutly NO remains and not looking any larger in the morning :S id love to believe it was just hiding but ive well and truely eliminated that possibility through vigerous searches, really makes no sense. 1 night and its gone!!

Na he's gone, me and my gf emptied the whole tank today (apart from water, substrate and fish). Went through all the gravel, emptied the filter and checked all around. Wherever it went, its not coming back :(
