So I just realised I haven't made proper provisions for my fish as i'm going on hokiday for two weeks this weekend. Its a bit too late to buy an automatic feeder as they have to be shipped and apparently they get clogged and stuff....unless uou buy the £50 and over ones which I can't afford right now. I would have gotten friends in to help but they're going on holiday the day after us so thats a dead end.

Are food ocks my only option? the ones i've seen being sold are for 7 days though. So do I drop two in and hope for the best?

Btw its a 60ltr tank and I use two filters, a fluval and a stingray, they both have established bacterial colonies of over 2 years and I've recently added the carbon zeolite cartridges to the stingray so it hardly ever gets polluted :p

Heavily planted with camboba, swordplants, grassish plants I can't identify an two four other broadleaved plants.....four tiger barbs, one cherry barb, four black neons, three white cloud minnows and one krib......the air pump as well is for much larger aquariums, its capable of aerating a 100ltr tank easily.

Gave as much info as possible to help you guys...sorry its quite wordy :p

Fish can easily go two weeks without being fed, especially if there are live plants they can nibble on.

In such a small tank, they're far better off not being fed while there's no-one there to do maintenance than being overfed by someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

Leave the lights on a timer or off altogether.

As usual +1!

You'll likely come home to a sparkling clean tank as well!

Those feeding blocks are not reliable and in fact can pollute the tank. Fish can go without food for quite awhile as stated. You have an established tank and lots of plants so don't worry about it.

Thanks a lot guys :) was getting worried lol but i'm calmer now.

Btw sorry bout all the mistakes in the original post...must have made it harder to understand...stupid tab :')

Anyways thanks for the advice and i'm sure i'll have less nightmares about "coming home to find one fat fish and 10 fish skeletons" lol ;)

Would it be better to leave the lights off alltogether....as a precautionary measure and to avoid an algal bloom?

It's actually better to have the lights on a timer, but if you don't have one then I'd leave the lights off. Is there any ambient daylight?

sorry for the late reply :/ yes there is ambient light from the windows.....its a bit late to do anything now though cause I'm already on holiday :) . Silly me just checked my mail after almost two weeks and i saw your question :/ sorry :(
