Holes In Plants

Hi All

I have a well established planted tank 38Lx18Hx14D.
It has several types of plants all do well, feed with fert tablets
and every so often liquid feed. Substrate is from a matured
tank with plenty of goodies.
Topped up with CO2 setup with 2.4wpg.
Problem is some soft leaf plants are showing signs of holes all over the leafs mainly lower
ones, pretty sure they are not been eaten.
Pretty sure have snail free tank cos have 10 assassins snails looking after it all.
Looks like they have been burnt with magnifying glass.
Not sure if plants are lacking in something or have something that needs treatment.

sounds to me as though your plants are needing some N and P. Obviously with your lighting, you plants are gonna be needing more C02, this mean more N and P. What ferts are you dosing?

I am using king british standard liquid fert, must be honest dont do this regular.
What do you mean by N and P...... !
Plants seem to bloom do really well then have a spell off dots weird..!
Think I need to fert more regular by the sounds of it, maybe got abit complacent with the
amount of plants that are in the tank and the amount of food they need.

What plants need in this relative order to survive in water are IME...Light - C02 -good flow - Nitrogen (n), Phosphate(p) - micro element (you normal plant fert). Most plants will utilise the n and p from there environment, however when the lighting levels go up, n and p are in more demand, which in turn we need to start dosing n and p.

What C02 are you using?

as for complete plant ferts that contain n and p this is the best on the market

Was using DIY setup for 6 months an got good results but got to much of an #14###.... so bought:-

D-D CO2 System

System is on a timer and comes on when lights come on for 10 hours a day.

Was monitoring with 4 Dkh Solution With Bromo Blue but went off in the tube, not sure what is the best way
to monitor Co2 levles in the tank.
Just ordered a bubble checker to see levels that are going into the water.

I really do suggest you get a source of N and P. With pressurised C02 ans light that you have, you'll need to be dosing the N and P. Is the tank heavily planted?
