Anyone out there successfully treated this? I have 5 discus in a 180ltr tank along with neons, cardinals and some ottos. I do a 50% water change 2-3 times a week. One of the discus has hole in the head and has had for some time now. I'v tried two different treatments and this second one seems to be helping a bit (eSHa HEXAMITA). I did a 3 day course and wondered when you can start the same again or should i not do that? His colour is coming back slowly but he still has a large hole in the head with what looks like fur growing on it. Does this take long to heal and should I do anything else?

I've never kept Discus , but have treated other types of cichlids for hole in the head .

The cause in my tank was high nitrates , caused mostly by over feeding , I was lucky in that all I needed to do was many water changes , I also cut back on feeding until things balanced out .[ some have to treat for secondary / bacterial infections ]

You may try looking through the pinned articles in Trop. fish emergencies , you may even want to post your question there to get other peoples experiences.

Also it didn't happen over night .

kinda off topic but , those neons are LUNCH

Haven't lost a neon yet and Discus show no interest in them - neons are very common to be kept with discus - what do you keep with yours?

I know the desiease is due to poor water quality and I do believe the onyl way to cure ti si to do water changes
