hi i bought a hairy toadstool about 2 months ago up until now its looked real healthy
but i have just noticed a hole in the centre all my other corals are doing great
i have 2 types of button polyps ,glove polyp, star xenia, and something that looks like hairy dead mans fingers
allwater params are excellent just checked my phosphate and that came back as 0.5 any help would be
greatly appreciated

Chances are its a parasitic worm that is eating the coral. I had a similar experience with my Sacrophyton and I was advised to dip the coral and remove any dead tissue before placing it in the path of a powerhead to clean out the hole.

I dipped mine in Tech-M and then rubbed my finger around the hole and removed all the dead tissue. Then I placed the coral in front of a powerhead for a day or two and everything is fine now. The hole did not fill back in but the coral did divide into about 6 smaller frags :D

thanks for the advice i spoke to a freind who suggested cutting it so as i prepared the coral i noticed that it was actually splitting in half so i gave it a helping hand and 5 days on the halves are doing really well
the only strange thing was after i cut it i took 1 half out of the container i found a tiny brittle star so straight on the net to see if its harmfull to coral but apparently no risk s result on 2 fronts!
thanks again for the reply
