Hoe Do You Tell If Its Ocean Rock?

How do you tell the difference between ocean rock and earth rock? Also, can you use another rock in the SW tank to to base landscaping? How can you tell which are safe? thanks

i borught some live rock some bits ware ocoen rock but have lods ov groth on it! i also put 25k of ocoen rock in with the live rock and few months down the line its seem to be getting on pretty well! duno if this was anyhelp but thort i would let you know

Calcium Carbonate based rock (ocean rock) will bubble when you drip some vinegar on it. Slate, glass, granite, etc will not bubble when you pour vinegar on it.

you can use limestone or sandstone as base rock. Just make sure it is free of chemicals.
