Hob Filters And Plants

I'd clean the sponge weekly just to be sure. I don't want you having to claim off your house insurance!

i have two aquaclear filters on my 29gal and can achieve levels of 25to30ppm co2. i just raise my water level to just below the spillway. when i used my rena xp-1 i had litte surface aggitation and my fish looked a little starved for o2 so i went back to my hobs, plus my tank looked cleaner forr some reason

Danski, that's exactly what I do and I reach good levels..

Well, my tank is in the basement right now so I'm not too concerned about flooding but I will rinse it weekly. I don't think the sponge would clog up becuase the water is already flowing through 2 sponges and filter floss in the filter before it goes back in the tank. Thanks for the tip on increasing the yeast to 1 teaspoon. I'm getting a bubble every second now. :)

r u using 1tsp in a nutrafin unit? if so you may wanna keep an eye on the end of the co2 line because you may see some white slimy stuff build up or release a little too much co2 and your fish will really be gasping for air. that happened to me and i had to do a fast water change and run an air pump to keep my fish from dying.

No, I'm using a 2 litre bottle with the Nutrafin bubble/diffuser. I'll keep an eye on it.
