You try to condesend me and then try to apologise for the initial post?!

You're right you did act snotty - "Besides the reading I've done on it and the 400-level invertebrate class I am currently taking, I have a Biology degree and am working on a second. I can tell you for a fact, there are very few biological processes that do not increase in speed when heated, and very few that do not slow down when colder. "

From http://fish.orbust.net/forums/index.php?sh...pic=25024&st=16

My information was not wrong, it was just not worded very well. The ich cycle lasts longer in cooler tempatures, hence why people crank up the temp during an outbreak.

"I can tell you for a fact, there are very few biological processes that do not increase in speed when heated, and very few that do not slow down when colder."

So what the problem with what I said? It amounts to the same thing.

Sorry for the off topic nature of this reply nightlife, are you in the UK? It seems we are not privvy to a lot of things! Would it be possibe to have it sent over from the US or is pure amonia illegal here?

Hmmmm

heheh now now ppl calm down ;)

cation, i take no offence to ur post and im in no way overly sensitive... its just well.... i dont tend to call ppl morons... i word it very differently :/ and i dont like the fact that other ppl call my friends morons just because they think in a different way.... if it wernt for ur job how would u have know if it was acceptible or not?

cheese im from the uk yes lol im in the midlands..

no offence ot americans or any nation.... but everyone has ideas now an again and u wont know if it works unless u try it.. :fun:

**edit** as for pure ammonia not sure, iv heard u can buy it from boots... give it a shake, if it foams its not acceptible

See? You still can't deal with the fact that someone might possibly know more then you about something. What you said, actually, is that "I know that ich thrives more in coldwater but I am not sure you should heat the water.".

If you don't want to admit that you were wrong, that's fine. If you want to call it miswording, that's fine.

Thank you for your implication that my education in the subjects of which we speak are unimportant compared to your "readings" and what you "know". I'm always open to learning new information, and I guess I assume most others are too. I've always got lots to learn, but I guess you've got it down pat.

Don't accept my apology, I don't really care. Do what you have to do to make the situation okay for you. I'l just make sure not to get in the way of your misinformation.

That's cool, we understand each other. We just come from different places. See, I call _myself_ a moron on a near daily basis! *grin* And there's no harm in asking, you're right. If it weren't for my job/education I wouldn't have known, but now you know too! That's what it's about - sharing info!

I will try to be more gentle in my choice of "teasing" words - would "idiot have been better?

i call myself idiot on a daily basis... sometimes on an hrly basis......
Sounds like Tourettes to me.

I've heard you can't buy ammonia in the UK in case you start making bombs in the bath-tub. I think ammonia based fertilizer is highly regulated too.

You can buy 10% ammonia solution from some photographic darkroom suppliers though. I didn't want to pay the extortionate postage so used flake food for a while before losing patients and putting a small number of guppies in.

Nightlife, sorry to you, too.

I've used some of my own DIY natural ammonia for fishless cycling and it worked great. Best part is you know there's no added detergents, etc. and it's totally free. :)

I hope the horse had good aim, hate to be the one holding the cup. It will probably work, my only concern, other than getting peed on trying to collect urine from a horse, would be adding some sort of bacteria to the tank along with the urine.

 A cup , how bout a bucket or bath tub . and gloves . And horse pee eating bacteria . No offence it just sounded funny .

I never heard of that aproach to cycling a tank . Let us know how he makes out .
