Hi All

So... here I have my 48 litre tank... with 6 neon tetras and a dwarf gourami... and I rarely see anything lately...

The gourami has a mad half hour every now and again and swims side to side (like he's patrolling) the front of the glass, other than that he spends his time what looks like trying to find the shrimp... and the tetras stay in the bottom third of the tank, so they're always hidden in the moss.

Do I have room for a couple of mid - top dwelling fish? if so, what would be best?

I have only been able to see a maximum of 3 tetras for the past 4 hours.

Mountain Minnows, Hatchet fish, Cochu's Blue Tetra. Upper to top dwellers IME. The minnows won't do well at high temps though. I have mine at 75F and that's pushing it. Not sure if they are appropriate for you or not. The Blue Tetras need to be in a group. On a side note, my platy's go all over the tank, top, mid and bottom.

You may not fancy livebearers but my guppies tend to spend most of their time in the upper-top levels of the tank (except when food is on the bottom!). A few males would add a bit of colour and activity.

ooh guppys... never thought about that.... I could get a couple of males. Any input onto whether my tank could take the stocking of 2 - 3 male guppys?

I think three males would be fine in there. Watch for any nippiness from the tetras though, they may take a liking to the tails. I've never had any problems myself but it could happen.
