Hmmm Strange Days

So I noticed when I got home my corals aren't opened up, and my 2 out of 3 urchins have lost some spines, just some, so i tested all my water parameters and the only thing that is bad is 20 ppm of nitrates. but that is no where near enough to do anything weird to my tank, since it used to be at 40ppm everything else checks out fine, But I do notice since I got my skimmer that my water doesnt have a certain smell it used to, in fact it has no smell at all it smells like fresh mixed saltwater, and my collection cup is filling up everyday, it said the skimmer would slow down the less waste there is, and the skimmer collection cup is brownish water, but now my water seems so clean its like almost reverting back to cycle itself, plus my water levler system is adding about 1/2 a gallon a day and so my (salinity) or w/e is 1.120 hmm so right now im puting more salt into my tank but I turned off the skimemr for now I think my tank was doing fine the way it was and now that i tried to make it cleaner i disrupted the bacteria and all that stuff, anyone ever have this problem. it's the only thing i can think of.

Is this a typo?? cause if not thats an extremely high SG.

Im sure that's a typo heh...dont think anyone with an SG of 1.120 would be adding more salt

i guess they ment 1.020

Lol ha ha Ya sometimes when I'm rushing I make a ton of typos lol!!! no it's supposed to be 1.024 and it has gone all the way down to 1.020 probably 1.019 and so i have had a bucket of water from the tank with more salt added dripping into the tank 1 drop every 2 seconds since last night, and only a gallon of 1.026 water has gone in raising my sg to 1.021 so i am slowly bringing it up without causing more stress, everything is now doing fine urchin wize, the funny thing is my pincushin urchin decided to go haywire with almost all his spikes, hes still not himself but my black urchin stopped dropping spikes so my tank will hopefully b fine since i can't find anything else wrong with it. and my rock etching urchin never lost a spike, but he is currently stuck between a rock and the glass lol so i havta go get him out ha ha... I'll keep you furtherly updated.... Maybe if anyone knows if its possible for a skimmer to mess up the tanks process of dealing with things, my tank is a free running tank for almost 12 months and now that i got a skimmer it's the only thing i can think of that has messed everything up. Right now taking care of my nitrates is my cheat since i turned the skimmer off....

What are the Ca and Alk reading of your tank?
When did you do your last water change?


I ask b/c a sign of low Ca is LPS no opening up so might want to check.
