Yes, I do know what it is. It's a Botia almorhae. What exactly is your question? I don't understand your post, on one hand seem to you say you are getting 3 at the end of the week but you don't seem to know anything at all about them. :dunno:

They will eat or at least kill apple snails. They can get to over 6" and three is a minimum grouping. They need lurking spaces & space to get out of each others way.
They are omnivores.

Is your black shark all black? If it is you need to consider rehoming it.

yes the shark is all black ????why do u no some thing about them if so info on it would be good as well not many peepl seemed intrested in giveing info on it when i asked befor ...........will the yoyos attack it ??or him them? by they need lurking spaces & space you mean lots of placers to hide right ?

Yuou were answered on the black shark here
It shouldn't be in with your other fish & certainly needs a tank over 6'x2'x2'.

Searching for this I found your 49g tank is a cube and so YOYOs will get too big and are too active for it. There are smaller loach species that would fit in but all Botias will attack snails.

Wouldn't your tank look better if you got some mid level fish instead?

Why not do your own research like the rest of us?

Rule #1: Research your fish before you get them.

Rule #2: If you missed rule #1, research your fish after you get them.

okay so i might not of said that i got info saying the sharks size and that it has been said to harass other fish but not many peepl replyed to that and as im shore every one nos that what one persons thinks is the truth about a fish can some times be wrong or not 100% true cuz both me and a guy i no who has a full sized one has had no problem with them and other fish and i mean i saw 2 peepl some time back trying to prove the DNA links of a typ of fish each had good reason as to why they were or why they were not right in the end both gave up trying to tell the other what was right and both peepl did no a hell of alot about fish,,,,,,,,,,,,, as for research your fish before buying them i did but i wanted to no what others thort so i posted on here this is the second time i posted asking about i got ether no answer or one answer at first and i was geting them a few days after that first post so i could only go on what i new when i went to the pet store..............as for Why not do your own research like the rest of us?dose that mean peepl who dont no much about should not posy asking qestions about there fish ???...............oh and here 2 pages i did go throo when i was researching them http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Oddball,%20Loaches.htm http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_lohachata.php
on anuther post i saw that they grew realy slow so i thort i would keep the as baby in the 59 cube tank for a year or 2 and then move them in to a 4 or 5 foot long tank that holds arownd 59 gallons thats why i never said cube this time rownd (please reply to this i wish to hear what the coments are from the peepl who answer with out evan asking if i had done any research cuz i had done some i just could not find that much so a crazy thort hit me why not post the qestions on here ) i herd they were the best at killing snails as well here http://www.aquariumfish.net/information/ge...mall_snails.htm oh by the way i dont mean to be rude i just get abit mad when peepl surgest i may not care much for my fish so dont be to offened by any of this post

You had been given decent answers -why did you need more?

Once you have the latin name of a fish try googling that. The sites you linked too are some of the most innaccurate going. One is run by a wholesaler/seller of anying to make money (or so it seems) & the other gains its comments from anyone. They may have 20 fish in a 5 gallon tank but they can still post comments. :(
Look for quality in the responses rather than lots of " I've never seen one " comments. Most people will see a good response & not feel any need to add to it.
Please try & improve your typing. Your posts are difficult to read. I can read txt spk and my first language is English but I'm not sure what language you are using?

im sorry about the typing i hate when peepl bring that up cuz its just cuz i reealy sucked at school i no my posts are difficult to read and english is my spoken language (hehe i just have truble typing or spelling sighs when i bring all this up i feel like a moron cant say there much hope of improveing .........any way thats off topic a bit as for the correct sites to go too how do u no if its a good site if its the first time u have been there and dont no any thing about the fish ? so do you think some small yoyo loachs will be able to live in the tank for about a year and half ?

I wouldn't put YOYOs in a tank that is only two feet long.
You could get Botia striata which stay smaller. They are lovely, active, playful, fish IME. Google the latin name.

It is difficult to know when info is accurate. A good general guide is to trust fishbase on origins & sizes and the specialist sites with multiple contributors for upkeep info. A lot of sellers also give less than truthful details.

To take your black shark as an example. I had one back in the 60s. He grew to about 16/17" and had to be kept alone or with guppies - he would kill or eat anything larger but guppies were ignored. I would not advise anyone to try this but I found out by accident when some guppy fry got transfered in plants I moved from another tank.
I could put up a post on one of the sites you found saying "my black shark is 19" (including the tail he was) and he lives ok with guppies & never bothers them. It would be perfectly true but it would not be something for a beginner to try. The advice I would give is DON'T BUY THESE FISH, they are not suitable for home aquaria.

As to your posting. Before you submit a post read it through and wherever you pause PUT A FULL STOP.

Just this slight difference will make your posts easier to read :) I've applied it to the quote above. What do you think?

i have a second tank thats 43.6 gallons and is in inchers 48 long by 14 wide and by 18 high would the yoyos live in there till then ? i probly could get the other loachs as you surgested and i would but well it would be a pain to tell the pet store guy that cuz he had to ordered them in on my reqest and well i live in a very small town and its the only pet store they are not set up to deal with many fish ether oh he gave me that black shark as well for free and he has full sized one thats realy big ......so i dont realy like makeing truble so if theres a chance of keeping them a year i probly will buy a realy big tank when i move to a new place (any surgestions or help welcome)...................i will have a word to the guy to see if he can stop the order or some thing ... oh were u talking about the shark when u said DON'T BUY THESE FISH, they are not suitable for home aquaria is it the grewing side thats not good for the home ?

The yoyo's should be ok in the 4' tank if it has been running for a while.

Yes - the black shark is the one not to buy. How big is the one in the store? They can get to THREE feet long and they can suddenly decide to massacre tankmates without notice.
I would take the black thing back to the store if I were you. Just think how much fish space this will free up in your tank :)

Please, in future, research fish before you order them.

Yoyos will be ok , just not in the tank you were planning.

the one the guy has is not for sale its just under 2 foot at a guess it might evan be 2 foot i thort that was full size cuz it was just realy big .............as for the shark i have at the moment its probly rownd 11 cm would it be okay do u think to keep him a year i am say this year stuff cuz im geting more hooked on fish the 4 foot was my first big tank i have had it for 2 and half year most fish in there are gouramis and 2 mollys a guppy and 2 sword tails and as i think i said befor the 2 foot that hold 49 gallon i got not that long ago after looking at them both its made me want to get evan bigger tanks at some time but i cant right now cuz of space and the place i rent hehe fish are great ...........as for the lack of research before i order them well most of the time do lots befor buying new fish but this time i kind of saw what looked like a snail out break starting to happen and herd loachers were realy good so i went out after a few days and only aliitle info and order them that was a stupied error as for the shark the guy on the spot one time asked if i wanted a black shark as i was about to go after i gave him some gouramis i had due to mine breeding .....i did not no what to say i did not no any thing about it maby it would be realy good for my tank i thort so i agreed and here i am :S i love watching fish :hey:...................................................................................................oh on a side note i dont spose you would no if the 2 foot 49 gallon tank would be good for gouramis ? i ask cuz i may move them if u think they can be from the 4 foot tank so the loachs would have more room or the shark is now worrying about the shark after hearing all that
