Well... i did the usual conditioning the pair for 2 weeks (well, 11 days) and i placed the female in the spawn tank with a chimney. I also added the male. Now hereis my question. They have now been in the tank TOGETHER for around 15 hours an there is a MASSIVE bubblenest. Now the male stays under the nest pretty much all the time but i havnt seen him go down to look for eggs. Although he will add bubbles here and there. Whenever the female comes over now, he will flare at her and she will run back to the other side of the tank in the hornwort.
Do you think they have bred? As the tank its about a foot off the ground and ladened with IAL i cant really see under the nest for eggs.
What do you think??

Bret

does the female look smaller than she did at first and try taking pics of the nest so you dont have to bend down and look hard and also gives you oppertunity to study it for any signs of eggs then take female out if there are

I'll now check the female! and ill try and take a picture :)

Bret

Nope the female if anything, is bigger! ill leave them together for a few more days... behaviour permitting :)

Bret

I've had betta's sit it out for 2 days, if you don't think that the female has been given the squeeze give it a till tomorrow. Though it does sound strange that the male is not letting the female near the nest, are both betta's new to breeding ?
