Hello
Since I finished cycling and introduced fish, I thought I'd introduce myself to hangout with people. I should have probably joined earlier, but I tend to procrastinate
A little background. I have a primo 110, some plants, rocks, and wood from a store. I started looking around stores and researching stuff in September or August, I don't remember. Took a while hehe, but I knew it would be a lot of work setting up for the first time, so I took my time. I felt the tank was cycled 3-4 days ago, but wasn't sure and had busy days.
Today the tests seemed perfect, so I took the leap and got 8 Cherry Barbs. I think they're still young, as they don't have much of a red colour yet. Mostly pale., maybe some have red tipped fins. I'll keep testing for a few days just to be safe.
The fish were doing some glass surfing, but also swimming all over the aquarium. I don't know if it's my water, stress, exploring their new surroundings, or a combination of the above. My guess is a little stress from the move and checking out the place. I'll update tomorrow on their behaviour. I've also got some small algae issues, but I'm using liquid carbon, and I'm hoping once the plants start growing it'll help starve out the algae (They're all still young and rooting.)
Also, for surface agitation, I'm just using the flow of the filter by turning the nozzle upwards. Do you think it's enough, or should I supplement with something? I didn't notice the fish breathing from the surface.
I'm not sure about the placement for my plants, or about how much light I have (Only using the juwel LED that came with the aquarium so far) but I know exploring all this as I go on is part of the hobby, and I'm happy about it
I'm really happy to join your community, and am looking forward to checking out threads tomorrow (it's really late now hehe). Would love to see what everybody has!
I'll include a picture of my setup, I apologize for the poor camera work hehe. Let me know if it's not acceptable to include a pic here. Sorry for the wall, I blabber XD
