hi folks. started enquiring about getting the cichlids for my tank that has finished cycleing. i spent months looking at malawis and setup the tank to be best for them with lots of rocks and bought a second large external filter. i have now been told i cant have them delivered to the isle of skye scottish highlands. my nearest store is 120miles away and its a pets at home. i travel to stirling every few months but i dont think anyone around the central belt sells cichlids. i have visited falkirk aquarium, was a realy nice shop but they only had common tropicals and marine.
does anyone know of a shop in scotland that sells them.
thanks, james

I might be able to help. I have all my fish delivered by this online store (but tend to order over the phone as you get better discount) they supply cichlids and I think deliver to your area. the service is superb. i have never had an unhealthy fish ever - they even quarantine for you (they did my spotted silver dollars for 2 weeks) and they really know their stuff.

when you phone ask for Dan and tell him Branwyn recommended you. :good:

That must be So annoying for you.

Would you be able to organise for fish to be delivered to the store in Stirling? I am sure if you bung the owner a case of beer he/she would happily take them in for you.

Else is there a courier service that could ship them to you by air - there must be a local airport you could contact to see if any pilots fancied doing someone a favour if you paid for the fuel. Certainly down here with money beign tight for everyone, people who own private planes are looking to do jobs to get their flight time up - they just cant afford the fuel.

made some more enquiries and its just not going to happen. i think it gets too complicated if i start trying to fly them etc. my only option is to wait until january until im down in strirling, then have them delivered there and drive them back up to skye. gutted though as its about 6 weeks away and the tanks cycled

HI, I live about 10mins from Stirling, you mentioned you visited the aquarium in Falkirk. What cichlids are you after ? The guy in Falkirk had a few Malawi etc. Tanganyikan wise he had nice pulcher, has had brichardi, had Multies , Leleupi , Tret cichlids (regular basis), usually has a load of small frontosa, duboisi on a couple of occassions. I was in last week he had two describes as pair of shell dwellers, I think they might be meeli/hecqui ? What you after ? If you really wanted you could set up a delivery from online, get them delivered for a day you're in Stirling , deliver them here and pick them up from me. (granted a day I'm off work (usually Tuseday, Wedenesday, Friday and every second weekend) , worth thinking about....

Cheers, Sean :good:

hi sean, thanks for the offer mate. its malawis im after, can you remember what ones he had in stock?
cheers, james

Ah sorry bud, I don't know one end of a Malawi from the other  Riverside Aquaria , now Wet 'n Wild in Stirling used to have some really nice Malawi but all there cichlid tanks are shut down now, only "bread and butter" fish. Here's the number for The Aquarium .....

Cheers, Sean

Not sure if you have checked this website out James but they seem to do a range of Cichlids, may deliver to your door (can't see restrictions on their delivery page).

Do you not know anyone who could fly them over in a light aircraft?

How about get them sent to a friend on england mainland then post them to you via royal mail or somthing?
