I just tested my SG and my Salinity was at 1.029-1.030 and I have never had it this high before, I have a 45USGal. How do I go about correcting this?

(yes I am new to all of this)

Remove small amounts, about a litre, each day and replace with fresh water...wait about an hour and test the sg...do this max twice a day until it comes back down to 1.026....
Remember to always top up evaporation with fresh water and never top up the level with salt water as it will result in this raised sg

Thank you, this is what I was specifically wondering.

Since I don't have a RO unit, should I go to my LFS and get a L of RO water or can I go to the Grocery Store and get a gallon of spring water (dechlorinated of course)?

i was wondering about how to add water. so we should you fresh water for top offs, but what about the 25% water changes? do you add salt in the bucket? or slowly add salt to the aquarium and check salinity level every few hours? or what?

You should never mix salt in the tank if you have livestock in. I just add salt into my 25l cans and shake them for a while and then test for sg, the cans are heavy so the best way I have found to do this is by putting the can on my kids trampoline and bouncing it for a while  I do this a few times and bingo the salt is mixed, I do not heat my water but alot of people do, In the summer I find just leaving the can in the sun for a couple of hours does the trick.
